There are lots of buzzwords in education: paradigm shift, multiple-intelligence's and brain-based learning to name a few. It's really not so much about vocabulary; it's about good teaching, and the bottom line is we can no longer afford to not be on the same page as our students technologically. This is why it is imperative that decisions made by educators result in the improvement of student learning using 21st Century technology skills. How? The solution is simple - It is now my moral imperative to be "committed to excellence" for all of our students, each of their families, and all MCSD stakeholders. Every student will be challenged to achieve his or her greatest potential while preparing to be an independent, productive citizen. #iamacompanyman
Please know that I love my career and that I truly enjoy working with the amazing faculty and staff at Madison County Middle School. I am here to support each student through his or her educational exploration and will continue to do so for as long as it takes. #MustangPride #MCProud Who we are and what we choose to do relates directly to those with whom we interact. By leading by example through positive learning interactions with my students, our classroom community will learn to strive for success - within whatever challenges may arise. It is my moral imperative to be "committed to excellence" for our students, families, and all stakeholders. It is my pleasure to work with you to ensure this occurs! |
I am currently a teacher and coach at Madison County Middle School, in Comer, GA. I have taught, throughout my years, grades 5 - 8 and guided students' learning within all four main subjects through those years. Coaching is another role that I will always enjoy and run with as a Track & Field coach, ever since 1998, near Detroit, MI. I enjoy embedding educational technology into my daily plans to engage students with rigorous and relevant learning opportunities. I also strongly believe that my moral imperative, as an educator, is to challenge each student to achieve his or her greatest potential.
I have also been fortunate enough to present at multiple conferences about educational technology and effective content teaching and student learning strategies. I believe that within the current state of education, specifically within professional learning opportunities, that the teacher needs to take a more proactive role in becoming more than proficient within the classroom walls. This is, among a few other reasons, why I created this online learning opportunity called "Exceed The Standard." I urge you, my students, to challenge yourself to achieve your greatest potential. Instructional Technology Portfolio (Ed.S)I was drawn to Kennesaw State University due to an email sent by our Superintendent, Dr. McCannon, stating there was an online degree program that may be of interest to me. The reputation of KSU in regards to instructional technology led me to enroll in the Specialist Degree program in the Department of Instructional Technology. My ultimate goal is to earn my doctoral degree in Instructional Technology at KSU and operate an instructional technology department!
The purpose of my e-Portfolio is to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE-C standards. Please feel free to browse my online portfolio at your convenience. Of particular importance is the "Standards" menu link. Within this section, you can view a multitude of artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I completed during my time within this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Kennesaw State University, and feel that I am well-prepared to integrate technology into my classroom, school, and system to assist other educators in using technology and providing professional learning opportunities for all. I would like to thank all of my colleagues from my past, present, and future who make teaching an enjoyable and satisfying career.
